Frequently Asked Questions

HQ Sound Modules

Question: Does each module require its own speaker?
Answer: Yes, each module requires its own speaker.
Question: Can I use more then one speaker on a module?
Answer: Generally, 1 module, 1 speaker. The amplifier can drive 1    8 Ohm Speaker of any size. However there is an exception if you put 2  speakers in series, then you can use 2, but this reduces the power through each speaker.
Question: What voltage is required to power the HQ sound modules?
Answer: You can use 9 to 18 volts AC or DC from any source you have, or purchase our TR-1 power adapter .
Question: How long does each module play for?
Answer: Each module will play for up to 30 seconds depending on the scenario recorded on it.
However it can play 1 time, or continuous looping.
Question: Can these modules be used onboard trains?
Answer: Onboard usage is limited. These modules are great for cattle cars and other repetitive sounds. For onboard usage sounds are best suited with DCC usage where track voltage can be use to power the HQ modules and your spare function decoder output can be used to activate the sound.
